Abstract
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao and Sands China Ltd. jointly inaugurated Macao’s Wetland Treasures: 2024 Biodiversity Photography Exhibition with an opening ceremony and awards presentation Nov. 7 at The Venetian® Macao’s Level 3 Circle Hall, showcasing a collection of stunning photographs featuring the rich biodiversity of Macao’s wetlands, on display now until Dec. 9.
Organised by the USJ Institute of Science and Environment in collaboration with the Department of Media, Art, and Technology of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and supported by the Drop by Drop project of the WASH Foundation and Las Vegas Sands Corp., the exhibition highlights the collaborative efforts from the public to promote awareness of Macao’s unique ecosystems.
The photographs on display are from the January-August Wetland Biodiversity Photography competition, highlighting the rich variety of life within Macao’s wetlands and reflecting the delicate ecosystem balance and the need to preserve it. The exhibition showcases prints of the top 100 photographs from the competition and digital displays of over 500 submissions, providing an interactive experience that enhances visitors’ understanding of the beauty and significance of Macao’s ecosystems. The exhibition is part of USJ’s Drop by Drop sponsored initiative, One Drop at a Time: Exploring Biodiversity in Macao’s Urban Wetland Ecosystems and the Role of Water Stewardship.
