Abstract
"This study examines the design of a community meeting center that draws inspiration from the Banyan Tree Life concept (Wilson, R., 2019). The design incorporates elements of an art space, a theatre, and support for community art activities. Can a community centre design base on local tradition be a centrality that preserve culture and promote social interaction?
The research addresses the social, cultural, and urban contribution of the ""under the tree"" community concept to Macao's high-density environment. The theatre's role as a venue for cultural and social activities is important for the city's social interaction and cultural atmosphere (Bonet, L., & Schargorodsky, H. 2018). Incorporating a social local practice into the theatre community design, the ""under the tree"" community concept optimizes the urban microclimate, bolsters community cohesion, improves residents' quality of life, and fosters socio-cultural and urban development. The study also analyzes the spiritual impact of Banyan Tree Art Life's concept (Wilson, R., 2019). The study examines the effects of various environmental scenarios on the residents of the community and offers a comprehensive explanation of the advantages for the communal and transitional areas. The study elaborates strategies and concepts for constructing a community and art center, bolstered by concepts such as community, centrality, transition space, tree canopy protection, and exoskeleton bionic structure promoting the integration of nature and humans. The design concept aims to effectively provide an urban facility for the community, influence the urban microclimate, and mitigate the negative impact of the heat island effect and preserve local tradition.
