Borges, VeraVeraBorges31/12/201731/12/2017201720172017https://dspace.usj.edu.mo/handle/123456789/5579We will question the lyrical mode centred on the consequences of the Discoveries and the Empire in Portuguese poetry: since Os Lusíadas, a cornerstone, Portuguese poetry has been inquiring about the affinities between poetic diction, mapping, representation by analogy and accurate representation. Poets that found their voice and centre in the East (Fernanda Dias, Cinatti) will be consider within the framing of authors who identify the historical and mythical movement of the Discoveries with the very nature of poetry (Sophia de M. Breyner, M. Alegre). We will look into the implications of the adventure of the Discoveries in the elaboration of a poetic celebration of the gaze and of an inaugural light.
