Abstract
Currently, we have heard criticism on the not-up-to-date education system in our country. What is the implication of advancement in technology on education? How are teachers coping with the contemporary education expectations? Is there a need to redesign the learning environment? If so, what are the driving forces behind such a change? Is there anything we can learn from successful innovations around the globe?
This research study aims to approach the main research topic by looking into the importance of understanding differences in students, adopting interaction design in education, the features of contemporary learning environment and approaches, and gaining inspirations from precedents. After learning from the literature review, a survey is designed to understand target users’ genuine needs and expectations to accomplish the two research outcomes. These are designing a learning/teaching app and classroom furniture. A design thinking methodology is used to empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test the two outcomes.
Finally, the learning/teaching app will be presented with a prototype created with Adobe XD and a 3D model of the classroom furniture will be printed for visualization.
